Where to Eat, Stroll, and Unwind Near the Inn
One of the best things about staying at the Island Inn is how much is within easy reach. You don’t need a car or a complicated plan — just step outside and let Oak Bluffs unfold around you. From morning coffee to sunset cocktails, here are some of our favorite spots near the inn.
Morning Fuel
Start the day right with a fresh pastry and a cup of coffee from one of the bakeries and cafes along Circuit Avenue. Whether you prefer a leisurely sit-down breakfast or a quick grab-and-go before heading to the beach, you’ll find plenty of options within a short walk. Many of our guests love picking up fresh muffins and iced coffee to enjoy on their patio before the day picks up.
Lunch and Dinner
Oak Bluffs is home to some of the island’s most beloved restaurants. From casual seafood shacks near the harbor to farm-to-table dining with ocean views, there’s something for every mood and occasion. Walk along the harbor for waterfront dining, or head to Circuit Avenue for a more eclectic mix of cuisines. If you’re cooking in your suite’s kitchenette, stop by the local market for fresh-caught fish, local produce, and everything you need for a relaxed dinner in.
Where to Stroll
A walk through Oak Bluffs is one of the simplest pleasures of staying here. Wander past the gingerbread cottages of the Martha’s Vineyard Camp Meeting Association, where Victorian-era homes are painted in every color imaginable. Stroll down to the harbor to watch the boats come in, or take the scenic path along the waterfront toward the East Chop Lighthouse. In the evening, Circuit Avenue comes alive with shops, galleries, and the kind of unhurried energy that makes the Vineyard feel like nowhere else.
How to Unwind
Sometimes the best part of a vacation is doing nothing at all. Spend a lazy afternoon by the Island Inn’s heated pool, fire up the grill for a casual cookout, or grab a book and settle into a chair on your patio. The grounds are spacious and peaceful, and the whole property is designed to make you feel like you have room to breathe. For a little evening treat, walk to one of Oak Bluffs’ ice cream shops — a nightly tradition for many of our returning guests.
