Sailing into Sunset: Harbor Views from the Inn

One of the simple pleasures of staying at the Island Inn is how easy it is to step from the property to the water. Whether you’re chasing a sunrise paddle or a leisurely sunset sail, the harbor sets the rhythm for a perfect Vineyard day.

Morning on the Water

Early hours are the quietest. Pack a thermos of coffee from the lobby and head down to the docks before the harbor wakes up — you’ll often have the boardwalk almost to yourself, with just the gentle clink of rigging in the breeze.

Afternoon Charters and Day Sails

Several local outfitters run two-hour day sails that are perfect for first-time visitors. No experience needed — captains will pour you something cold, point out the landmarks, and let you take the wheel for a stretch if you’d like.

Sunset Sails

For the most memorable evening of your stay, book a sunset sail. The light over the water turns peach and gold, the wind usually softens, and you’ll come back to the inn with photos that look unreal. We can help you make a reservation when you check in.
